Outreach and awareness

Community OutreachThrough a programme of outreach awareness and understanding the Shane Project is able toreach a much wider audience as we engage with communities, such as schools, colleges and community organisations. Studies continue to Community Outreachshow that MS is being identified at an earlier age than previously assumed, including the teenage years.

Early intervention and support can make a difference in the life-style of a young person diagnosed with MS or caring for a relative with MS. Our outreach approach includes:

  • Giving talks in school, colleges and community based settings;
  • Educate young people about MS & encourage them to become the ‘voices’ of those living with MS in their various establishments through our Skill Based Volunteering Programme (SBVTP).
  • Identify young people with MS or caring for a family member with MS so as to provide them with support.
  • Community events and presentation
